"The Skelligs" is a group
of musicians from Split (Croatia) who are playing traditional Irish music.
Surrounded by an audience new to Traditional Irish Music, an audience
who had never heard the music in it's natural form, that is, live and
in person, the performances of "The Skelligs" are accompanied with a mixture
of incredulity, surprise and exaltation. "The Skelligs"s' approach to
Irish music is traditional with a touch of artistic tendencies, but in
certain measure and form that doesn't harm the traditional base, but only
makes it richer. The group has a rich repertoire of traditional music
such as reels, jigs, polkas, slides, hornpipes, etc. and also traditional
songs in English and Irish (Gaelic). The first public performance was
on the 12th march 2000 in the club "Ghetto" (Split). Since then the group
regularly performs in clubs in Split and other towns in Croatia. |
